CDP 3

May 15, 2009

Have you memorized this Canticle from morning prayers in CDP?

Christ, as a light
illumine and guide me.
Christ, as a shield
overshadow me.
Christ under me;
Christ over me;
Christ beside me
on my left and my right.
This day be within and without me,
lowly and meek, yet all-powerful.
Be in the heart of each to whom I speak;
in the mouth of each who speaks unto me.
This day be within and without me,
lowly and meek, yet all-powerful.
Christ as a light;
Christ as a shield;
Christ beside me
on my left and my right.

When you do, it will open up uses of it that are not readily available to you otherwise.

1. It allows you to pray in secret for people you are sitting next to or with (anywhere) replacing “me” with “him” or “her” or “them”.

2. It allows you to say a prayer that is uniting everyone you are with in a meeting by substituting the word me with us.

It has blessed me and the people I have been with many times.

3) Participate in the missio Dei, the mission of God.
